What is the A.C.A.R.T.S.?

The Allen County Amateur Radio Technical Society, or ACARTS, was formed in 1967 to serve the greater Allen County, Indiana area with an amateur radio organization dedicated to the technical aspects of the hobby. The organization was incorporated into a non-profit entity in 1971.  You can check out the clubs history in detail if you like.  Today, the ACARTS has more than 150 members, and is an American Radio Relay League (ARRL) affiliated Special Service Club.

Services and Activities

ACARTS operates the following repeater/simplex systems, which are open to all licensed amateurs (click on the frequency for detailed information on that system). 

Voice
     »  146.880 (-) wide coverage - general use & membership autopatch - battery backed up
     »  147.255 (+) The 147.255 repeater is temporarily off the air, and looking for a new home!
     »  443.800 (+) general use & membership autopatch - battery backed up
                  
Digital 
     »  223.660 (s) BBS network NETROM node (FWA220)
     »  144.390 (s) APRS Node (located at WB8HQS's house)

Note:  If you are an ACARTS member and don't have a speed dial set up on the autopatches, just send an email to our station manager. 

 
Test equipment available for membership use:
    - 750 MHz frequency counter
    - RF antenna analyzers (both the HF/VHF and UHF versions)
   
Community service
- ACARTS members are available to provide communications for local charity events, or 
  assisting law enforcement or medical agencies during emergencies.
 
Amateur fellowship
- ACARTS publishes a monthly newsletter on events of the club and the local ham community, 
  and offers assistance to local hams and interested parties with their communications or
  electronics related questions or problems.
 
Supporting digital communications for the region
- We operate a regional, wide coverage NETROM digipeater and a local APRS node, providing vital data links to all Packet BBS's in NE Indiana and NW Ohio.

You can drop by our monthly general meeting (see what this months meeting is all about), which is normally on the third Tuesday of the month at the Salvation Army facility, at 2901 N. Clinton, in Fort Wayne.  How do I find Turnstone?  Glad you asked:  just follow the map!  

Finally, we have a membership application (print from screen version or PDF version) available if you are interested in joining ACARTS.  Dues are only $12 per year.
